Getting you connected

Dialup

The traditional, low cost way to connect. Utilizing an internal or external modem you can get online using numerous service providers, either on a metered (1p/minute) or un metered (fixed cost) connection.

The option is suitable should you require occasion email access, low usage or Broadband is not available in your area.

ISDN

This is a true digital line that can be used on similar tariffs as standard dialup. The benefits of ISDN is the speed of connection. Using both 64K channels would give you 128K, or twice the modem dialup speed. This option is suitable for users requiring faster connection speeds than standard dialup or for areas where broadband (adsl) is currently unavailable.

High-speed, low-latency, always-on Internet!

Broadband is the next-generation Internet access method, which uses an existing BT phone line to carry data many times faster than traditional 56k methods. The connection is constant, users do not have to waste time dialling-up to connect, there are no cut-off times and because ADSL is digital it does not affect the analogue phone signal, meaning no more missed calls.

The benefits of broadband's speed advantages include the ability to stream audiovisual information seamlessly - watch news reports, listen to radio online or check out the latest movie trailer at a much higher quality than modem access allows.
Surfing the web becomes much less frustrating when using broadband, pages load instantly and the blue 'loading ' bar becomes a thing of the past. We can advise, install and configure numerous broadband devices, depending on your needs.

The basic self-install adsl modems usually connect via a computer usb port, and the software drivers etc are installed easily via installation wizards.

However, if you want to start sharing this proxy to the outside world (internet), then there is some configuration needed and the security aspect of this “always on” connection needs to be addressed (shared or not). If you want other network users to share this connection a router would be the obvious choice. This then allows external connectitivity without the main pc having to be switched on (usb port off) and most reasonable routers will have built in Firewalls, VPN, Ipsec, NAT, and DHCP features.

We recommend and install adsl modems/routers and combo units that are cost effective as well as offering features that are useful (required) now and in the future. i.e Virtual Private Networks (VPN)
